Mynd af frétt Vaccination schedule - Week 24
14.06.2021

The following vaccinations in Laugardalshöll have been planned for week 24. This news will be updated with more information after the plans are clarified. (last updated 15 June at 13.20).

We point out Frequently Asked Questions about vaccination arrangements here on the website. Look for answers there before you contact the health care centre. The phone lines are very busy.

  • Monday 14 June is Janssen vaccination. The randomised birth-year cohort process continues. Men born in 1981, 1991, 1994, 2001, and 2002, and women born in 1976, 1979, 1989, 1993, and 1997 will be vaccinated. SMS invitations have been sent to those who are offered a vaccine on that day. Vaccination takes place between 9:00 and 14:00.
After 14:00, people who previously received an invitation to be vaccinated with Janssen can come, while supplies last.
  • Tuesday 15 June is Pfizer vaccination. It is both people receiving a second dose of the vaccine and the randomised birth-year cohort process. Men born in 1996, 1989, women born in 1987, 1992 and 2001, and everyone born in 2003 and 2004 can be vaccinated that day between 9:00 and 14:00.
After 14:00, people who previously received an invitation to be vaccinated with Pfizer can come, while supplies last.
  • Wednesday 16 June is Moderna vaccination. It is both people receiving a second dose of the vaccine and the randomised birth-year cohort process. Men born in 1982 can be vaccinated that day between 9:00 and 12:00.
After 12:00, people who previously received an invitation to be vaccinated with Moderna can come, while supplies last.

Vaccination is offered this week for:

  • those who receive an SMS invitation to show up on these days
  • those with an Icelandic social security number (kennitala) who are in the birth-year cohorts that received invitations for this week.

People who previously received vaccination invitations but could not show up with the rest of their group can also attend after certain times, see the schedule. They will be vaccinated while supplies last.

  • those born 1975 or earlier
  • those who belong to a birth-year cohort that has already been invited
  • those who received a vaccination invitation but have not yet used it

Those who are offered Janssen cannot choose another vaccine right now, but in late summer there will be vaccination days when it is possible to choose a different vaccine. It is not possible to show up for a different vaccine than the one you have been offered.

Those who receive an invitation but can’t make it are allowed to show up the next time that particular vaccine is being offered. Do not ask us to move you ahead in the queue. We cannot do that. See Vaccination order.

Young people born in 2003 and 2004 are not allowed to receive Janssen due to age restrictions. They have been offered Pfizer.

All AstraZeneca vaccines that arrive are used to give second doses. Those who received an invitation for AstraZeneca but did get vaccinated will be offered a different vaccine.

AstraZeneca will be used every other week this summer and will be offered next week (week 25).

Procedures at the vaccination site

Everyone is asked to show up with identification and we remind you that masks are required at the vaccination site. The injection site is in the upper arm and in public places. It is a good idea to wear a t-shirt under your clothes. Everyone must wait at the vaccination site approximately 15 minutes after the vaccine is given.

Declining vaccinations

If you wish to refuse vaccination altogether regardless of the vaccine type, send your name and Icelandic social security number (kennitala) to bolusetning@heilsugaeslan.is. No questions are answered at this email address. It is possible that some people who have refused vaccination altogether will receive an invitation to be vaccinated, and in that case those people can just ignore the invitation and not show up; they don’t have to notify anyone.
